A Single Man (Tom Ford, 2009)

What's it about? A college professor (Colin Firth) intends to commit suicide, unable to cope with the pain of losing his longtime partner Jim (Matthew Goode).

Is it any good? The Vogue fashion model of movies; stylish, striking to look at, well put together and not a hair or cheekbone out of place. And like such models, it's so pre-occupied with how it looks, it offers little else of interest and you can't help feeling you'd have more fun with the chubby chick from next door. Firth is good, though.

Anything else I should know? Fashionistas amongst you might recognise the name Tom Ford. He's a fashion designer most renowned for reviving the Gucci label and for that controversial Sophie Dahl Opium advertisement. He should stick to the fashion.

What does the Fonz think? Pretty to look at, but hollow.
