Top 10 Movie Fathers

Fathers, eh? Cornerstone of any good movie.
With Father's Day just round the corner, we take a look at 10 of the best.

1. Don Vito Corleone in The Godfather
The ultimate patriarch. So devoted to his family he actually organises crime to support them! Although his kids didn't turn out too good. But it wasn't for want of trying on Vito's part.

2. Dessie Curley in The Snapper
Bravely rallies round to support his daughter when she has an unexpected preganancy. Says "me fuckin bollocks" about a million times. And that's just cool.

3. Marlin in Finding Nemo
Overprotective dad learns to give a little slack to his only son. Copes rather well considering his wife and about 1000 of his other children were eaten to death.

4. Jack Torrance in The Shining.
Okay, so he tries to kill his son with an axe, but kids can really try your patience sometimes, you know?

5. Darth Vader in the Star Wars saga.
He abandons his pregnant wife, destroys his daughter's planet, cuts off his son's hand and tries to take over the galaxy. But look, we all makes mistakes, he was probably just under pressure at work.

6. John Kinsella in Field of Dreams
"You wanna have a catch?" "I'd like that." Blub!

7. Bryan Mills in Taken
When bad men kidnap his daughter, Liam Neeson goes to Europe and takes revenge on pretty much everybody there. Better than a strongly worded letter, I suppose.

8. The Man in The Road
Survives an apocalypse, dodges cannibal killers and keeps the light of life burning in his son's heart after all hope seems lost. All well and good, but does he take him down the park when the footy is on?

9. Furious Styles in Boyz N The Hood
"Any fool...can make a baby, but only a real man can raise his children." Wise words. Plus he's called Furious - how cool is that?

10. Edward Bloom in Big Fish
And that, my friends, is how you tell a tall tale to your kids.

Happy Father's Day!
